Rescheduled Event: “School-Based Health Centers” on January 8, 2026

January 8, 2026 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am

Virtual Event

Date: Thursday, January 8, 2026
Location: Virtual (Click to register)
Program: 9:30-11 a.m.

This engaging program, originally scheduled for December 2, has been rescheduled and will now be held virtually on Thursday, January 8. In addition to welcoming our GCSSA members and their staff, we are also opening this event to Ohio Schools Council member districts, extending the opportunity for more educators and leaders to participate.

Held in partnership with the ESC of Northeast Ohio, this session will explore the development and benefits of school-based health centers, highlighting how these centers support student well-being, expand access to healthcare, and strengthen school-community partnerships.

Background:

The Wickliffe City School Family Resource Center, established seven years ago to support a community where 52% of residents are economically disadvantaged, has grown into a vital anchor for students and families. Today, it provides an integrated network of support, including community healthcare, a student-led food and clothing pantry, mental and social services, athletic physicals, and annual tax preparation assistance, demonstrating the powerful impact a school-based health and resource center can have on a community.

Presenters:

Joe Spiccia – Former Superintendent, Wickliffe City Schools

Julie Ramos – Director of Strategic Innovation, Wickliffe City Schools

Reminder: this virtual session is open to all staff members, including those who were not registered for the original December 2 event, and is now also open to OSC members as well. All are welcome and encouraged to attend!
